SiPass Integrated Dual Reader Interface (DRI) 

Securing doors is the main responsibility of any good access control system. The field-level devices that provide the interface between the system and the door¡¯s security components must be reliable, flexible and easy to install.

The Dual Reader Interface (DRI) offers all of these qualities. The DRI provides a local interface between the Advanced Central Controller (ACC) and the two readers installed beside each door ¡ª one for entry and one for exit. Thus, when a cardholder requests entry to or exit from a locked door, the DRI receives the cardholder¡¯s identity information and then sends that identification data to the ACC for processing.

In addition, the DRI is intelligent enough to report the door¡¯s status and, on command, unlock or lock the door. When a cardholder presents the access card to the entry or exit reader (connected to the DRI), the DRI interprets the encoded information and sends this data to the ACC. The ACC then checks the validity of the cardholder¡¯s identity. If the cardholder has been granted the appropriate permission, the ACC sends a message back to the DRI, allowing it to unlock the door and provide passage.

Carefully engineered, the DRI can be installed at any suitable location. The user can conveniently mount it near the controlled door or simply install it in the controller enclosure.
